With Kernel 2.6.32 the mainline scheduler (CFS) is on par with BFS regarding x264. And a lot more improvements have been implemented since then.

At the moment I&#039;m experimenting myself with the BFS and I&#039;m not sure wether it delivers lower latencies and less streaming hick-ups as the CFS of 2.6.34

Anyway -- at least the BFS is/was an importent invention that showed some flaws within the CFS and kicked the developers in the a** ... ;-)
