My name is Luca Spiller. I’m a product of the eighties. I was born in a small village in Dorset, I went to university in the beautiful city of Exeter, and now the world is my oyster!

Ever since I was young I have loved to tinker with things, and know how they work. At primary school I was introduced to computers, and at the age of 11, convinced my parents to buy our own. I quickly became intrigued with programming, which is when it all began.

Before university I was rather set on web development. I was quite the expert on everything and anything to do with the web, well, ok not everything, but the big players: HTML, CSS, Javascript, AJAX, PHP, Ruby on Rails. If you are wondering, my Javascript framework of choice is Prototype. During this time I also learnt a bit of C++ and explored the wonders of Linux.

Whilst at univeristy I got a Mac, and became familiar with enterprise software development. I completed a summer work placement, in sunny Exmouth, which involved lots of C# and icecream. My final year project and dissertation went back to web development. I wrote a dissertation about how technology will mean you no longer need to upload your photos to Facebook and Flickr, and completed a project exploring unit testing tools aimed at web development.

I have now finished, and am wondering where the world will take me next. I’m young, I’m free, and I have a degree!
